Brief Story Structural Outline

Genre: Horror
Protagonist: 20 year old boy, photographer

Brief opening outline:
A boy wakes up tied to a chair, disorientated and confused in an abandoned, derelict setting.
We watch him struggle and scream for help whilst lots of short 2-3 second flashbacks of him are shown, previously walking around the area taking photographs, constantly cutting back to the scene in the present. In the final flashback we discover how he has arrived in his current situation. We uncover his by seeing a shot of him looking into a stream and a black hood being put over his head in the reflection before cutting to black. There is darkness in the room. There are three quick flashes showing the boy in the chair. In the first flash a young girl appears behind him. In the two next flashes the girl gets closer to the boy in the chair. Cuts to the title.

Story outline/relevance to opening:
Following the opening we see a new group of teenagers arrive at the location on halloween intending to stay there for the night. The remainder of the plot follows the teenagers on their night out, each of them disappearing one by one. The goal is for the remaining teenagers to survive whilst trying to discover the whereabouts of their friends and to look for an escape route. The audience will realise that the person who is responsible for the disappearance of the teenagers is the boy who originally gets kidnapped in the opening of the film. Therefore we also realise that the young girl, who briefly appears in the opening, was also once a victim.
